Itinerary
We set off to the heart of Soweto, driving past Baragwanath Hospital, an enormous taxi rank and the historic suburb of Diep Kloof to Orlando West, the hub of Soweto. We stop outside Regina Mundi Church and Freedom Square for a quick overview (optional to go inside) and then go to the Hector Pieterson Museum for a formal tour.
We explore the vibrant Vilakazi Street, past iconic monuments and the homes of Nelson and Winnie Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Check in at the Nelson Mandela Museum own costs.
After lunch, we drive back to Johannesburg city centre to the Apartheid Museum, where upon arrival you listen to a brief explanation of the museum exhibits. After this briefing, you are then invited to explore the museum at your leisure until it’s time to depart.
