Itinerary

On arrival at the Oliver Tambo international airport you will be met by a Supertime representative and transferred to the Safari Club. You have the remainder of the day at leisure. This evening you will meet your guide and the rest of the group for your pre-departure meeting at 18h00.

Overnight: Safari Club or similar on Bed and Breakfast.

An early morning departure from The Safari Club in Johannesburg takes us via Pretoria to the Limpopo Province in Mabula Game Reserve in the surrounding area of the Waterberg Mountains. All the large game species from Elephant and Rhino to the big cats as well as an amazing variety of birds have settled here. We will head out on a sunset game drive in the evening

Our destination today is the Khama Rhino Sanctuary via the Martin’s Drift border post. The Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust is a community based wildlife project, established in 1992 to assist in saving the vanishing white rhino, restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Batswana community through tourism and the sustainable use of natural resources. We explore the sanctuary on an afternoon game drive in search of white rhinos.

Today we travel towards the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park area of Botswana. After settling into our accommodation, we take a sunset stroll with our guide through the surrounding baobab grove. He will explain the local ecology, geology and the unique biology of the baobabs, which are in fact not trees but the largest succulents in the world. game viewing opportunities.

An early morning departure leads you to a half day trip into the Ntwetwe pan, the larger of the two Makgadikgadi pans, a vast expanse of sparkling salt that extends as far as your eye can see plus a little bit further. Remarkably there is life to be found here, some uniquely adapted desert species like the Springbok antelopes and the resident Kalahari cool cats, the meerkats. After our Ntwetwe Pan excursion, we return to the lodge for lunch, enroute we visit a local village to understand rural lifestyle of the locals hear. The rest of the afternoon you relax by largest pool in the Kalahari Desert.

After breakfast we continue with our journey past Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta to our camp situated in the greater Khwai/Moremi wildlife area. Enroute you may be lucky to spot some game as you transit through this wildlife paradise. After settling into our camp, why not take to the main area for a sunset drink and enjoy the beautiful environment of the camp.

We have the opportunity to spend the day on game drives. In our open 4×4 vehicle we will explore the Khwai Wildlife area on a full day game drive hopefully spotting a variety of game that frequent this region. Game viewing is seasonal; depending on the time of the year you may see different species in different areas. The best time for game viewing is the end of the dry season or spring from August to November. During this season, in order for us to offer the best game viewing possible, extra driving may be required due to the animals migrating closer to the rivers. In the summer, birdlife can also be viewed in abundance with exceptional sightings of raptors.

Today we head back into the famous Moremi/Khwai Game Reserve known as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa with an unprecedented concentration of wildlife. The full day is spent in the unspoiled nature of reserve which is home to a great diversity of plant and animal life – making it a ‘must see’ for a Botswana Safari. It contains – within its boundaries – approximately 20% of the Delta, and a vast range of habitats, acacia forests, floodplains, reed beds, lagoons, enduring wetland through mopane forest and dry savannah woodland.

Drive to Guma Lagoon Camp on western side of the Okavango Delta. This is one of the places in Africa with a beautiful sunrise. The Okavango Delta is both a permanent and seasonal home to hundreds of species of animals and birds. Conservationists have taken a great interest in the preservation of the Botswana Delta, as it is such an exceptional area of Africa.

Overnight: Guma Lagoon Camp or similar on full board.

Transverse into the Okavango Delta by water and foot: on traditional mokoro excursion, as well as a guided walk on a secluded island.

From the Okavango Delta in Botswana, you cross the border to Namibia, doing a game drive in the Mahangu Game Park enroute to your lodge.

Overnight: Nunda River Lodge or similar on Bed and Breakfast.

Today we return to Botswana via the historical Caprivi Strip and on crossing the border we make our way to Kasane town, the gateway to the Chobe National Park. Enroute past the border post, keep an eye out for the wildlife in this area. Our lodge is situated on the bank of the Chobe River, a short distance from its confluence with the mighty Zambezi River at Kazungula.

We start the morning with an exciting game drive before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Chobe National Park, which along with many species of big game, boasts the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. In the afternoon we will enjoy game viewing by boat on the Chobe River, watching elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds without having to reach for our binoculars – you’ll be near enough for close-up photographs, as well as having the chance to witness a spectacular African sunset.

Our journey takes us into Zimbabwe, home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the mighty Victoria Falls. In the afternoon we have a guided tour of the falls. On the next day you are at leisure to partake in one of the many optional activities on offer.

Overnight: Azambezi River Lodge or similar on Bed and Breakfast
